Chameleon provides the winsock.dll and a few applications. It does not
include a product that competes directly with Mosaic or Cello.
Mosaic seems to have fewer problems than Cello, but Cello does not support
the "field edit" features of html, while Mosaic does. At least my
version ofCello doesn't. However, I am sure than Mosaic will stabilize
with the next release, and I am also confident thatCello will begin
supporting the "field edit" before long too.
Personally, I like the look and feel of Mosaic better, but Cello is more
flexible in that Cello allows more configuration options from the
pull-down menus.
>Also, rather than run WIN32S wouldn't it be better just to go to NT?
Windows NT requires a lot more memory than Windows 3.1. Windows 4.0 will
be released this year (so I hear), and it is a 32 bit version that will
not require as many resources as NT does. Windows 4.0 is the appropriate
version to have, but since it has not been released yet, the next best
option is the Win32S upgrade.
>We are just starting up and need feedback...
If it were my decision, I would install Win32S and Mosaic. Of course, you
will still need a winsock, and for that, I have found bugs in Chameleon
which don't exist in the Trumpet winsock.

Mitch, several TCP/IP applications that are included in Chameleon do not
work properly with the wrong version of winsock.dll. In my case, I had
Trumpet installed in one directory, and Chameleon installed in another.
Some applications would find the trumpet winsock.dll (due to PATH), and
others would find the Chameleon winsock.dll. I had all kinds of memory
errors until I took one package out of the path. Once the applications
could only find one winsock.dll, all my problems went away.
So, make sure that only one winsock.dll is in your path. You may even
go so far as to rename the directory containing your old winsock.dll to
make sure that no applications can find it.
Hope this helps, Jerry

Have to agree there Paul, it's the diversity of the Internet and the way
that it is accessed. Trying to help other people set up a Winsock can be
devillishly hard, you have to try and take into account software and
hardware issues.

Subject: TCP/IP on a muli segmented Novel Lan
I have a Novell lan with multi segments (more then one NIC in the server). One
one of the segments is a 3com bridge that connects me to an Internet Router.
I'm using ODI drivers and I can get WinSock (Trumpt) loaded and I am able to
ping my self. However I still am not able to get to the outside world.
Q. How do I get the TCP/IP packets moving through my server to the network
segment that has the bridge?
Or, is this not my problem.
